005: Ha–Ri, rest day

I took a day off the bike to rest and work on a small design project for a friend. The motel/hotel was a strange place, but comfortable, and all I really needed was good internet (isn’t that all we need?).

It had six floors (though there wasn’t a number 4 button in the lift) and was surprisingly modern. The room had a huge tv and lights controlled by a digital panel on the wall. The furniture was Easjyjet orange cabinets and the curtains were gold. I saw no other guests but it felt like people were in the rooms.

The town is quiet and a little run down, nearby Mungyeong is a lot bigger and this mainly felt like somewhere people stopped over just to rest, or more likely bypass altogether. But at night the neon attached to the motels and hotels near where I was staying made it seem a lot more alive and appealing.

I mainly stayed inside working and watching season four of Seinfeld, but wandered the town a little in the morning, lunch and evening to get food. The highlight being a pizza in which was delicately tied with a red ribbon around the box and handed to me with great care.

I looked at what was left of my route and felt confident I could make it to Busan for Monday evening and planned some accomodation for then. I’d take a few days to finish up the project I was working on and recover from my ride, as the next few days could be quite intense. I’d also blown my budget on sleepig indoors for two nights so, if I could, I would try and camp until I made it to the city. What state i’d arrive in I wasn’t quite sure.
