US20: Chicago, IL, rest day one

Sunday, June 5th

I sleep well and wake up in gentle sunlight coming in from the slats of the blind above my mattress on the floor.

I take my bike to Jonny Sprockets in the morning to replace the chain. I also get the gears retuned, replace the rear tyre which has already worn out, tighten the rear hub, and buy some spare tubes.

In between dropping it off and picking it up I spend some time at Coffee Studio catching up on things, and take a walk around the local neighbourhood, Andersonville, to pick up some Mexican food later.

In the evening I spend some time at the dining room table with John’s cats and flick between multiple browser tabs I have open on various maps, routes, and blog posts open. Lots of planning to do.

I’ve cycled 1276.7 miles so far.
