Orlando, Florida

I was fortunate enough to be sent on a work trip to Orlando, Florida a couple of weeks ago. I took a couple of rolls of film with me. My stay mostly involved sleeping in one hotel, then waking up and walking to another one five minutes away for meetings, to sweat by their pool, and to buy coffee at the Starbucks inside.

So most of these images are either taken in or just outside of hotels. And really that’s almost all I saw of Florida – hotels, palm trees (sometimes palm trees inside hotels), the TV, and coffee cups.

A few hours before my flight back to London I took an Uber which dropped me at the side of a long stretch of highway in Kissimmee which is where The Florida Project was shot. I saw Orange World, the wizard head gift shop, and The Magic Castle Inn and Suites which is where the majority of the film takes place.

In the airport you’ll find this sculpture by Duane Hanson – ‘The Traveler’ which captures the mood nicely.
