Week Notes #27

— Spent the evening of summer solstice at Box Hill with Matt and Tom. The original idea was to camp, but rain was due to hit in the early hours of the morning so instead we just spent the evening up there with a disposable BBQ.

— Did some more work on Nice Portfolio – added a ‘Tips’ section (recycling interviews I’d done with designers on the original blog back in the hazy days of 2014/15), added some site info, and update the font.

— Lowkey week at work, a change of pace after the visual design / brand sprint. Slowly making steps forward on mobile and the roadmap.

— Continued with the Parks & Rec, the latest lockdown / comfort rewatch binge i’ve been on.

— Became very obsessed with this Soccer Mommy song and the big 90s energy:

— Sleep seems to b getting fractionally better. I still wake up at 6am most days, but have regained the ability to fall back asleep or at least doze for an hour or so. CBD at bedtime is helping. Also ordered some magnesium on the suggestion of Vala.

— A couple of bike rides around London. The repairs I made still seem to be holding together so far. Awaiting a set of Hunt wheels which should arrive in mid-July. Looking forward to going further afield again over the next couple of months if the weather holds out.

— It was my birthday. Ate far too many white chocolate cookies that Francesca baked. Sat in the park with Finn & Darcy in the evening and we just about managed to avoid the rain. 34 sounds old as fuck all of a sudden but l’m sure i’ll get used to it.

— A new Nick Carver on location video. I watched a bunch of his videos in the early stages of lockdown and they helped reduced my anxiety by about 20%. This one in the Mojave desert and features some cool black and white photos of rocks:

— I’ve been thinking about the desert a lot.
