Week Notes #3

one

I’m writing this on the train from Budapest to Bratislava. With time running out, I decided to spend the remainder of my break from work in Central Europe, taking trains between Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Prague where i’ll fly back to London from.

It’s a part of Europe i’d never seen, is relatively affordable, and the proximity of things means you can touch on four countries in a week. Though i’ll just be skimming the surface of them there was something appealing and novel about that, having lived away from Europe for a short time in a country which all most all Europe would fit into.

two

In Budapest I spent most of my time visiting coffee shops on this list, at the thermal baths (Gellért and Széchenyi) and walking along the Danube. It’s a likeable city and I could spent a few more days there i’m sure.

But I’m in Bratislava now for one night before heading to Vienna tomorrow. I have no idea what i’m going to do in Bratislava.

three

I’m 50 pages in to How To Do Nothing. So far it’s a little denser than I was expecting, but in a good way. Five days into 2020 i’m already close to beating last year’s reading record.

four

On New Years even I got a sudden urge to rewatch when Harry Met Sally, I watched half of it then went over to Tom‘s house for some drinks and several early morning hours of Drawful.

five

About a month ago I started making a list of things i’d like to do this year. This felt good until I found a note from the end of 2018 which shared many similar items, most unfulfilled. Despite that, and perhaps foolishly, i’m feeling optimistic about starting this new year.
